Network marketing is when you market specifically within one group. ie: you market nothing but insurance agencies.
Whereas multi-level marketing is when you branch out and market to different groups at once. ie: spread your marketing throughout insurance agencies, disaster restoration businesses, duct cleaning business, construction agencies, etc.
Someone has no idea what they are talking about. These business formats are two different names for the same process. They are still used interchangeably to refer to businesses where products are sold by person to person sharing of information. Today, most of these products are delivered directly to the consumer from corporate warehouses instead of being delivered by the sales agent. The name network marketing was created to move away from the negative connotations of the word multi-level marketing. Today the newest wave of this industry is moving towards another name. It is "Relationship Marketing". Its all the same. It is sometimes disguised as a get rich quick opportunity. That is a gross misnomer. It requires hard work. It can pay more than any other business format. People outside this arena **** it. People inside love it. If you want to learn how to earn tens of thousands per month, I can show you. But it will probably take two to three years. Do you have patience and a desire to learn new skills? Write to Bruce at for more details.
A multilevel marketing system is a system where a representative sells a product or service. You also sign up others into the business opportunity, these are often called your "downline." There is normally a method where you earn bonuses on the sales of the downline below you, as well as your own sales.
If you will write me (wasdadd) at yahoo, I can point you to a website where you can investigate how such a system works, and how the compensation plans work.
Both terms used interchangeable and have similar meaning. Now ppl are moving into the trend of Internet Network Merketing or Online MLM in which the sponsoring can be done purely online
