If it's anything like radio (which I've worked in) it pays very well, but it is VERY challenging.
If you work for one station they will give you a series of accounts to work on and it's your job to keep them advertising on the station. You are usually paid a salary/commission. So a certain portion of your paycheck is performance-based.
It's not exactly stable. Like anything creative, it only lasts as long as YOU keep the accounts up and making money. If it appears like you are lacking in creativity, or the customers are not happy, then your job could be in jeopardy.
Bottom line, it's fun, but crazy! Good luck to you!
